Yes this happens everytime.

I have uploaded a winnt.sif file. You can try it.
Look at the line of "Home_Page" in winnt.sif. This is correct.
Put now the winnt.sif file in your i386 directory.

Use DP_BASE 6.08.2.

After finishing. Open the modified winnt.sif file in the i386 directory. You will see that DP_BASE 6.08.2 has changed "Home_Page". "H" is now missing.
It says now "ome_Page=http://www.google.nl/" [^]

I also cannot reproduce this error anymore.
The problem was in my "i386\winnt.org"
I deleted this file. And slipstreamed it again and the bug didn't occur :)
I tried it a few times and "H" wasn't missing anymore. So this wasn't a bug.

You can remove this issue now.

[BASE] UpdateChecker doesn't detect new DriverPacks in the DriverPacks directory
I've noticed that if the DriverPacks BASE is open to the update checker page, and your remove the old outdated driverpacks and replace them with the new driverpacks and click refresh, it doesn't re-detect the packs and just displays the old packs. On the other hand, if i close the base after downloading the updated packs, then re-open it... it will find the new packs under the Update checker.

It's not designed to re-detect the DriverPacks present in the 'DriverPacks' directory: the Refresh button is meant to refresh the UpdateChecker (which is useful when your firewall first blocked the program, then you enabled internet access for the DriverPacks BASE, then you hit the refresh button), not for refreshing the currently present DriverPacks.

I'll implement this in one of the next versions though.

XP version recognition incorrect
Forgive me if this has been adressed verbally in some way as not something you wish to work on. I was just suprised to find this is still an issue as I have not been in touch for some time and I am eager to start testing again since I have some new machines to test the Driverpacks on.
When selecting my Corporate version of XP SP2 it tells me it is the Retail version. Neither RyanVM Integrator nor Powerpacker notices it as such, they are correct in finding it is the Corporate version.

I'm wondering about ruudboek and the bug report being assigned to this account. Seems ruudboek hasn't had any real activity in the system since last year.
I guess my report has gone into the black hole.
- Hey, I also want to say that I realize Sneaky is probably really busy. I want to pass on my appreciation for all the work done with the DriverPacks. This is one of THE BEST projects out. A huge thanks goes to all who make the Driverpacks what they are. -

That's why it was assigned to ruudboek, he agreed to maintain the Finisher but hasn't been doing that really...

The version detection code is provided by Siginet and he told me this was an edge case so didn't really feel like solving it. You have a very, very special copy of XP somehow ;)

I'm not willing to solve this extremely minor problem, the XP detection code is super ugly ;) (and not even written by me, as I just mentioned).

Yeah, I thought Siginet did the version detection, I remember him telling me that. - I know, it's not an important thing. I just wasn't naming my directories very well, so didn't know what version was in a directory. But the one I do know is Win XP Pro w/SP2 Corporate Ed. and it shows as Home ver.

The weird thing is that the version detection works fine in the integrator and Powerpacker. But I know Siginet has been pretty busy lately with coding. Just something I thought I'd mention, a bug to be fixed in the future sometime.

fixing this would require one of the coders to have a rare copy of the OS
most corporate disks are detected correctly.

Since none of us has the damaged disk to test with it will not be feasable to reproduce and therefore not feasable to update the detection code.

Since this issue has not been reported by anyone else in almost a year i would tend to agree with everyone else that this issue is an isolated one.
(it only affects one user, to our knowledge of course.)

I am going to close this issue unless it is reported again by someone else

XP Corp VLK did not load integrated MassStorage drivers v6.08 with Base 7.01.1
I'm sure you hear this a lot, but I never had this particular problem with DriverPacks. I'm operating under Windows Vista. I performed the RyanVM integration (no very fancy addons), nLite v1.30 RC and all of the latest DriverPacks to two XP discs, one right after the other, and both using Base v7.01.1.

The first was an XP Home SP2 OEM disc, and it installed beautifully on an older computer I repaired for someone.

The second was an XP Pro Corporate (VLK) edition SP2 disc. Both discs were clean sources; I always start with the same base disc image.

I try not to perform ANY other tasks during any RyanVM, nLite and DriverPacks processes, which isn't hard to avoid since especially the first two parts are disk intensive.

Under RyanVM, I integrate the main update pack v2.1.5a, Boooggy_WMP11_VanillaAddon.7z, ProgramAddons_WinRAR_3.62.cab, Ricks_CCleaner1.36.430_AddOn.rar, RVMAddonsDX9_1.1.7z and RVMAddonsWGA_1.5.723.1.7z. I've successfully integrated all these exact same addons on other XP discs very recently.

Under nLite, again although there is some heavy tweakage, I don't tweak anything unsafe and I've used the same set of tweaks in the past. I don't use any switchless installers, and the only thing I integrate with nLite is IE7, straight from MS's executable.

Under DPBase, I integrated all of the standard DriverPacks (and had the text mode option checked as well).

I have successfully integrated all of these DriverPacks to this same XP Pro Corp SP2 image using v6.10 before, but for the fact that all of the DriverPacks except MassStorage and CPU were updated in December and I hadn't installed XP Pro Corp since that time.

My motherboard chipset has an VIA 8237 southbridge and I have two SATA discs in RAID 0 as my boot drive. I also have a PATA hard drive, which I disconnect from the IDE cable (powered down) whenever I reinstall Windows as then the XP installation disc wants to put the boot information on it instead.

When I booted this fully integrated XP Pro Corp SP2+ disc on this configuration, it said that it couldn't find any hard discs, so evidently it didn't load my SATA RAID driver as it normally did in the past.

I'm running low on DVDs (full integration takes up over 800MB) and although I have one other RAID 0 system, it runs off an old Promise PATA controller so I don't know if success or failure on that system would necessarily tell me anything.

I've verified that all the DriverPacks were copied (and renamed appropriately) to the XP disc in the OEM folder. The ATICCP.INS file is 0 bytes, and it's 0 bytes on all my older integrated disc images as well. The Bin folder has 7z.exe, DevPath.exe, DPsFnshr.7z and DPsFnshr.ini.

Thank you for the extensive report, if all people submitted such detailed reports, then everything would be so much easier!

But unfortunately this is a known bug, it was posted at several places in the forum and it's posted as a news item so it appears on the front page. It's already fixed in 7.01.2 rc1, which can become a final as soon as the new MassStorage pack is ready.

Read more about this here: http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=1145. [^]

Uh. no. It's not fixed.

What I mean is that the first bug, as found, was
1) dpbase base slipstreaming and then a second slipstream (on top of previous) was adding a second entry.
2) If there was an existing entry (such as a manual entry)
3) nlite entry of MsDosInitiated=0 or No or "No" (again, such as my manual entry).

Point is, dpbase is now supposed to remove any existing entry of MsDosInitiated regardless of value.

GUIRunOnce
WindowsXP never logs in after first boot(stops at "playing logon sound")
Info : motherboard-Gigabyte GA-8I915ME, P4-3GHz, 512MB RAM, 160GB SATA HDD.
Step1: WinXP uA CD slipstreamed with SP2 and updates till June06, IE7Beta2 using nLite.(did not remove any drivers).
Step2: added winnt.sif file.
Step3: slipstream DPBase v6.06.1 and all dp except wlan(available as on 24-06-2006).

After logging into xp the first time after uA installation(ie before RunOnceEx.cmd is called and user profile is created), ie during the time,"playing logon sound"(i've applied a tweak which displays what windows is actually doing), it pops up a small, empty message box with no texts,and with a red-X symbol in the left and OK button in below center. i click ok and i get this message under the title 'User Environment'.
"Windows cannot create a temporary profile dir. This may be caused by insufficient security rights. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.
DETAIL: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."

i click ok and another msg popups under the same title.
"windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the default profile for the system.
DETAIL: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."

I click ok and then windows is logging out and logging in automatically and the same thing said above happens. this is continuing indefinitely.
I cannot enter windows forever.

Case 2: Tried installing the same cd on another computer.
Mercury 845GVM-AGP, P4 2.4GHz, 1GB RAM, 80GB UATA HDD.
In this computer, windows is logging in without problems but it creates another profile named user.systemname(ie Administrator.Wondercomp - WonderComp is my system name) and logs into this profile. But i dont want that new profile to be created.

I am using your driverpack for more than a year. Till May, everything was working fine.
I tried various ways in trial-N-error(like excluding june updates, excluding ie7, removing all other cosmetics(winntbbu.dll, syssetup.dll, msgina.dll, shell32.dll, explorer.exe etc) which were working well before... etc).
Spent past 1 week in full and 4-5 installations daily and few rw-cds.
Only as a last resort, i excluded driverpack and installed in both systems mentioned above. i had no problems in both the systems and no additional profile was created in the second system. Now i added everything except driverpack and found everything to be fine.
I still dont know whether it is the problem with integrating the driverpack.
if u have come across this situation, pl respond asap. thanks very much.

Options selected: dp method-2, GUIRunOnce, disable KtD, disable caching of driverpack, ATI catalyst-Requires dotnet FW-something like this-i dont know what it means by selecting either of this method for ATI catalyst.

In XP, first time i downloaded v6.06.1 and run, when i selected the windows distribution directory, suddenly dpBase crashed. i have to execute again and then it was working fine. this happened 3-4 times.

DPBase always crashed in windows2003SP1. so i have to use xp.

i have again tested today by installing the same distribution with driverpack and another without it. the installtion with driverpack gave the same problem mentioned above and the one without dp integration gave no problems at all. now i am going to integrate drivers one by one and test to know which driverpack gives problem. i already removed only sound and tested. the problem still persists. now im going to remove graphics and try. everytime im doing fresh slipstreaming.

ok i found out the solution. if i integrate graphics A, i get these problems. so i excluded Graphics A and installed in two above mentioned computers and i am free of problems specified above.
i dont know whether the actual problem with Graphics-A, but after excluding it, i dont have any problem. there is some option in G-A, like ATI catalyst or something which i dont know, which gave two options. i tried both the options and installed to test. i get the same situation mentioned above. so i decided to exclude G-A.

Windows XP: the hardware wizard shows up in English, no matter what the OS language is
This is caused by KB883667, which is being slipstreamed by the DriverPacks BASE. The reason for this is that the hotfix is language-specific.

Slipstreaming of the KB883667 hotfix is disabled now. Supporting ALL languages isn't doable, so the end-user will have to slipstream the hotfix him-/herself.

Windows XP pro german - device manager - hardware update assistent - language mixture
Using the german version of winxp pro, there ist a mixture of english and german language in hardware update assistent.

It says : "Welcome to the Hardware Update Wizard" and then
"Es wird nach aktueller und aktualisierter Software auf dem Computer..."

Installing without slipstreaming driverpacks: hardware update assistent is german only wich is correct.

The Problem seems to be the Hotfix KB883667 which is language dependend. Getting closer it is the "newdev.dll" which causes the language mixup.

The strange thing is that I AM checking if Serepack.inf or Serepack.in_ exist in the I386 dir. That should cover it, but somehow it fails. Get in touch with me (BashratTheSneaky [at] gmail [dot] com) and we'll solve the issue together through a special version with some debugging parameters enabled.

Fixed! Copy/paste from my (explanatory) reply in the forum (http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?pid=786#p786 [^]):

I think I've found the cause. I add this line for KB888111 (and several others) in Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003:

hdaudres.dll = 100,,,,,,,2,0,0

The '100' means it's a file that was added by a ServicePack (ANY SP), and that it wasn't included in the RTM version. I didn't do any further investigation regarding this: I assumed this '100' value would work on all Windows NT 5 platforms. But it does not.
It seems that for Windows 2000, the value '2' is used. It's fixed in the next version of the DriverPacks BASE! wink So just for the record, what should be added when using Windows 2000 is the following:

hdaudres.dll = 2,,,,,,,2,0,0

Windows 2000: QL2100.sys is deleted
--Only tested on W2k--

When you try to slipstream w/o selecting the MassStorage DriverPack text mode, the slipstreaming process deletes the file ql2100.sys, which is needed for Windows Setup.

The thing that causes it (from log):
2006-06-08 15:35:07 : <PREP> Deleted old DriverPack MassStorage text mode drivers.
Workaround: select MassStorage DriverPack text mode (even if you don't select the MassStorage DriverPack)

Win2k errors in DOSNET.INF and TXTSETUP.SIF after slipstream
All added MassStroage drivers/values for text mode setup in Windows 2000 Professional and Server are remarked out with a ";" in front of them in the DOSNET.INF and TXTSETUP.SIF files. This applies to both files and all sections these files are added to. [SCSI], [SCSI.LOAD], [HARDWAREIDS...], [FILES].

Also at the end of the [Files] section in DOSNET.INF these three files adpu160m.sys dac960nt.sys ipsraidn.sys do not have the "D1," in front of them, thus causing 2k setup to stop with [Files] section is corrupt in setup file.

Driver packs being applied are all except sound and wlan.

I have not been able to check 2K3 for the same issue yet.

The semi-colons (;) in front of all those drivers in the SCSI.Load section o/t txtsetup.sif file is actually NOT an error. After many tests, I concluded that Windows 2000 was not able to load an unlimited number of text mode device drivers: it would crash if you'd add too many (actually if the combined size exceeds a certain treshold). That's why I've commented many of them, I tried to keep the most important ones.

I would nevertheless like it very much if you could VERIFY this, since you're one of the few utilizing the DriverPacks on a Windows 2000 installation disc. Just remove the semi-colons and the drivers will load. If you get to the partitioning screen, you're safe. And that'd prove that I have a bad Windows 2000 installation disc. (Have had many problems with it in the past, so perhaps it's just this specific version/edition/print.)

Those errors in dosnet.inf however should not exist. Could you please upload your dosnet.inf and dosnet.org files? That'd be very helpful to find the exact cause.

Sorry for the delay, I had trouble getting the original file as I had modified the files manaully while doing my own testing.

Still tseting the semi colons in txtsetup, at the moment setup is falling over at the iastor drivers so I am seeing if I can work around this as you say by limiting the number of files loaded.

thanks

Hey Bashrat,

If you look in the dosnet.inf, you will see that there is semi-colons (;) in front of iastrold.sys.

;d1,iastrold.sys

2006-09-22 08:11
Yes browned, you still have ONE semi-colon left: the one in front of "d1, iastrold.sys".

Any progress now?

browned
2006-09-22 14:17
Yes, sorry I added that ; during my testing. I haven't had much time available to do more testing but I can say that you are right and you can not have all the txtsetup drivers loading in Win2k. I haven't found out the amount of drivers that can be loaded but I am currently trying to use less than half of the added drivers with no luck yet.
(0000552)
BashratTheSneaky
2006-09-23 06:29
It's not about the amount, but about the combined SIZE of all .sys files of the drivers you're trying to load. I'm sure that this is not documented by Microsoft, nor by anyone else, simply because no one has ever tried to load a similar amount of drivers...

I cannot find my notes about this right away, but I do remember that I only staid a couple of KB's under the limit with the default amount of 'enabled' drivers. So if you count the total size of all .sys files I'm still loading, you'll have a very accurate idea of what works. Good luck!

2006-09-23 06:41
What you COULD try is this: replace the \I386\SETUP.EX_ of your Windows 2000 installation files by the one of Windows XP. That's one dirty hack, but it might work!

As can be seen in the comments, this is not a bug, but rather a work-around. This will be described in detail in the upcoming online manual.

This issue will not be closed so we can continue the discussion for a possibly better work-around, but its status will now be set to "resolved", since this was never a true bug.

Well, if you had taken a look at the changelog, you'd have seen there haven't BEEN any changes for multibootDisc: it was a bugfix release focused on the remaining problems in the Finisher. ;)

The next update will probably contain all bugfixes for the multibootDisc installation platform ;)

Tried to execute DPs_BASE.exe under Admin account. Still no dice.

Here's the cause of this problem: the drivers are copied, regardless of whether QSC is available or not, to \$OEM$\$1 instead of \$OEM$\$1\D, so when the finisher tries to copy drivers from the nonexistent \$OEM$\$1\D it returns an error. See the file "base 609 error.jpg", noting the open directory in the background.

Oh, and yes, I re-downloaded BASE_609, and all the DPs are up-to-date.

Exactly. That directory is missing. The finisher copies them to the wrong directory. The only reason the problem seems to occur with the chipset pack is because that's the one it tries to copy from \$OEM$\$1\D first. If one excluded the chipset pack, it would still happen, just with a different driverpack instead.

Aha, that's one of the unsolved bugs... You are using the 3rd party DriverPacks TV or Modem, right? Or which ones are you using? Please upload your DPs_BASE.log.

VPN-User
2006-08-15 10:39
No I don' t use any 3rd party driverpacks. I only tried to integrate MassStorage drivers. That' s why I chose "custom".

The log doesn' t tell me anything useful, it says operation finished. Perhaps it did in fact successfully, but still the error. Perhaps an "off-by-one" error?
(0000383)
BashratTheSneaky
2006-08-15 10:43
Nah, this error should only exist if you've chosen the 3rd party DriverPacks to be slipstreamed... therefore, may I ask you to also upload your DPs_BASE.ini file? Thanks!

Could you retry on a different pc? This error should not occur... It's rather related to your system (or to Windows) than to my program.

It's also possible that your file got corrupted or something, so please download the latest version to be sure.

this crash happened to me also. very first time i extract dpbase and run, it surely crashes in xp. then run again, it works fine. later too, sometimes it happens and if i run again, it doesnt give problem. but in win2003, i was never sucessful in running dpbase. after selecting the distribution directory, it crashes. many times i tried and cannot run dpbase in win2003.
this happened in not 1 computer but 3 computers i tried, and same thing happened. i have other problems also which are thoroughly tested before it was posted in the number-0000076.

Sorry for the late reply, did not notice you had replied to my last question.

I thought that you were perhaps using a path with unicode characters or something like that. But that's obviously NOT the case. So far no one except for you two have gotten this error, so I'll close the issue. But first I have one final question. What is your system locale?

This rather complex and rare bug can now be considered as solved.

custom
When Finishing Method ="custom" in settings file, this setting isn't imported
Example of how to get the crash: In my DPs_BASE.ini file I have

finishMethod = "custom"

Now run the DPs_BASE.exe, go to Overview and it will report the finish method as GUIRunOnce. Now go change the finish method to RunOnceEx, then go to Overview. The DPs_BASE.exe will crash stating a variable was not declared.

There seems to be two issues. 1.) When executing the DPs_BASE.exe, it does not properly read the finish method of "custom". 2.) When the finish method is changed, then going to Overview, it crashes.

I am attaching a screenshot of the error message.

when DriverPacks set to "all" and [SelectDriverPacks] exists nevertheless, no DriverPacks will be copied
When using specific (in fact in valid) settings file and using the Driverpacks BASE in API mode, then no DriverPacks will get copied.
Create a settings file with:

DriverPacks = "all"

[SelectDriverPacks]
<whatever is in this section

And then run the DriverPacks BASE in API mode while NOT all DriverPacks are available, then no DriverPacks will get copied at all.

When ATI X series Mobility device is present, ATI CCC/CCP is NOT being installed.
This is because there's no exception entered for this driver, which is located in D\G\A\2. Older ATI Radeon Mobility devices are supported by the driver in D\G\A\1 and therefore the CCC/CCP does install for these devices.

Report in the forums, this is a driver issue, not a bug in the BASE.

Using computer while slipstreaming
The DriverPacks Base keeps becoming the active program seemingly randomly. It's incredible annoying and if it switches to it and your trying to use IMessenger and you hit enter that the Base closes!

It's wrote in AutoIt3 right? why does it become the active window? I use AutoIt3 and it has the ability to read information from none active windows as well as active windows and it sure as hell doesn't need to be active it's self

Siginet has managed it with the RyanVM Integrator

muiz has reported the same problem just a few days ago. Could you tell me if this is since one of the recent versions of the BASE or has the problem been there always? I haven't changed anything in the GUI-code in months though, so I wouldn't know what could cause this.

I'm afraid I don't know. I haven't use the pack for some time.

Probably explains why I didn't understand why I was getting an error all the time.
QuickStream Cache was disable which may have been why the base wasn't acting as it should.

I am just running it now and when its changing the focus to the Base every now and again.

3-4 times before the small windows saying its updating txtsetup.sif and again when that message box about updating txtsetup.sif first appears (cant it being on top be optional?)
And the final message box gains 'focus' at the end. could its not just make the noise to notify you rather than 'stealing' the 'focus'

I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm nit picking. petty little bug

Other than that you guys, especial you BTS you doing a great job

sorry my bad

it was enabled but the cache was out of date. the comments before are with it enabled but the old cache deleted before executing the program

This is a DRIVER bug, not a bug in the software!

This is a bug in Intel's chipset drivers. You can find more about this issue in this topic in the forum: http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=525. [^]

The only way to solve this problem, is to use older Intel Chipset drivers, for examply by using DriverPack Chipset 6.05 (which includes the last Intel Chipset drivers in which this problem does not occur).

there are errors in your transalation file

[GUI]
description = "descrição"
slipstream = "&Integrar!"
exit = "&Sair"
; %s="<name of settings file to overwrite>"
iniSave_01 = "Não foi possível deletar %s!"
iniSave_02 = "Arquivos de configuração do DriverPacks BASE"
disc = "disco"
multibootDisc = "Disco multiboot"
StandAloneDrivers= "Drivers Autonomos"
instPlatform = "plataforma de instalação"
nenhum = "nenhum"
todos = "todos"
select = "selecionar"
paths = "caminhos"
patterns = "padrôes"
yes = "sim"
no = "não"

nothing on the left side of the = sign should be changed IE

todos = "todos"
should be
all = "todos"

never change the left side that is the KeyWord and must not be changed...
Please correct your file by useing the english for reference thank you ! :)
PS i also noticed you dont have the HotKeys marked (the ALT [shortcut key] feature) you select the "hotKeys" by putting an & sign in front of the letter to be used as a hotkey

IE
&Integrar! - if you were to press << ALT >> << i >> it would start the slipstream ;)
remember you can't use the same letter twice on any given page ;)
So...
slipstream = "&Integrar!"
exit = "&Sair"

I and S are not going to be available for any others to use becausse the
slipstream and exit buttons appear on every page ;)

thanks

Updated German translations to reflect the new entries for BartPE
I am using the upcoming release of 8.04 (8.05 rather I guess;)) to finally include the somewhat long forgotten entries for BartPE method.
Thing is, I never knew new translation entries had been added (maybe the translators could get notified when this happens?) and as I do not use BartPE myself (yet), I never noticed.
I was notified by a user anyhow (through ICQ, not the bugtracker, though) and since the final isn't out yet, all should be well =)

This bug has been solved quite some months ago. I can't find the exact entry in the bugtracker, but it's definitely solved!

UpdateChecker Issue/Crash
The 'Updates Checker' feature of DriverPacks BASE seems to lock the entire program when trying to check for updates. I would assume because the completed site isn't fully functional, which is fine, but it would be nice to have some sort of timeout on it so it doesn't crash if the page isnt fully functional.

GUIRunOnce
Unusable Windows 2003 SP2 32-bit Enterprise Edition cd, due to erroneous slipstream of some KB update from Microsoft
I have slipstreamed SP2 for Windows 2003 VLK on a cd, with nLite. Then, I proceeded to install all driver packs 7.04 or 7.04.01 all of them, onto the Windows 2003 SP2 folder. The problem is that the slipstreamer complained that some KB update from Microsoft is not included into installation folder, and then it attempted to install it. Slipstreaming reported no error, so I considered that slipstream was properly done.

It is indeed necessary to slipstream that update so that Windows 2003 SP1 cd properly works with Bashrat driver packs, but it is unneeded for Windows 2003 SP2. More than that, I could not install the Windows 2003 SP2 on my computer (processor Athlon XP 3200+, VIA KT600 motherboard Asus A7V600-X firmware 1.09, with 1 GB DDR/333 MHz, 1 Western Digital SATA-II JS1600 HDD working as SATA-I, 1 Maxtor 80 GB HDD IDE, 1 DVD+/-RW and 1 DVD-RAM, both IDE). That cd simply rebooted the computer when (or before) it tried to load command line versions of the drivers for SATA, SCSI and so on.
UBCD 4.1.1 fails to boot on my computer when SATA HDD is present *and* ATA boot ROM is enabled.

Drivers from VIA Hyperion 5.11A are problematic. VIA advises that after you install VIA Hyperion 5.11A, you should install VIA V-RAID driver 5.50B. That solves problems with V-RAID driver from 5.11A.

I checked the DVD if it is able to boot. It is indeed able to boot fine.

I could log onto my installation on a SATA disk with the recovery console. I performed chkdsk /p on all partitions. Besides some strange messages (namely that the NTFS partition was somehow gone from the drive, but only the first time I checked it, and that I should use /p even if I had already used /p), all went ok. Namely, after issuing chkdsk x: /p for each partition, all was ok, although I cannot be sure that it really checked those partitions, since it insisted that I should use /p switch if I want chkdsk to check those partitions, without noticing that I had already used /p in issuing the command.

So, I consider the problem solved in the last version of DriverPacks Base 7.04 (with all the latest drivers packs, namely either 7.04 or 7.04.1 versions).

I do (still) reccomend that drivers from VIA Hyperion 5.11A have to be overwritten by drivers from V-RAID 5.50b.

txtsetup.sif entries removed?
Both in RC4 AND RC5 when slipstreaming was complete there were entries missing from the txtsetup.sif which appear to have been removed when slipstreaming...

The lines which are removed are:

Under section [nls]

UnicodeCasetable = l_intl.nls,0409
DefaultLayout = 00000409 (Missing this line causes text setup to halt and complain)

Under ["Keyboard Layout"]

00000809 = "United Kingdom"
00000409 = "US"
00010409 = "US-Dvorak"
00030409 = "US-Dvorak for left hand"
00040409 = "US-Dvorak for right hand"
00020409 = "US-International"

(Seem to be everything below Ukraine)

These entries WERE present BEFORE slipstreaming, I double checked by deleting the directory I slipstreamed to, then re-used the original and compared txtsetup.sif's before and after and the original, the above lines are missing and the setup complains about the missing 0000409 layours on both counts... I believe only people who use the US layout are going to see this...

TXTSETUP.SIF and/or DOSNET.INF are corrupted.
During the text mode portion of setup, setup complains that it cannot find a particular file. Inspecting the source reveals that the file is indeed present. The name of the file changes randomly with each slipstream.

I am using the RVM Integrator to integrate the latest update pack and then using nLite for a few things as well prior to using the BASE slipstreamer. If I do not use BASE at all, the problem goes away completely. This was also an issue with the last nightly build prior to the release of 6.10.

In my experience these symptoms are almost always the result of a problem with the txtsetup.sif file.
The attached 7-Zip archive contains both the modified txtsetup.sif and dosnet.inf file and their corresponding (.org) originals.

RogueSpear told me that it was not the DriverPacks BASE that caused this, but either the RVMIntegrator, his own AutoImage, or a crappy HDD (bad sectors).

This issue will be reopened if necessary.

Two typo's in the DPsFnshr.ini file
one in the first exception and one in the last: the first one has an invalid platform indication (due to a "-" instead of a "_"), the other one has two identical tagFile entries, so the second one overwrites the first one.

TEXTMODE integration erroneously removes certain entries from TXTSETUP.SIF
After slipstreaming TEXTMODE drivers, the entries from the attached RVMi Addon are removed. Presumably this would happen with similar methods of OEM integration of 3rd party software. The attached Addon is a confirmed example.
1. Actual BASE version I used: 9.02.0.1

2. More info about this bug: http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=3996 [^]

3. My theory is that BASE is either removing entries from files that have corresponding *.sys files (i.e., ultradfg.inf or ultradfg.sif entries are removed from TXTSETUP.SIF because BASE sees ultradfg.sys), or it's removing entries that have corresponding references in [HiveInfs.xxxxx] sections of TXTSETUP.SIF.

Related to removing entries from txtsetup.sif for Replacement drivers.

There is a replacement driver named ULTRA.SYS. BASE was removing all lines that contained the string "ULTRA" rather than only removing the lines that matched the string "ULTRA"

IE ultradfg.sys contains the string "ultra" but is not a match for the string "ultra". Fixed in HEAD revision. release to testing team is imminent.

Reinstall, but don't use the Chipset DriverPack. If that works, then it's the chipset drivers. If that doesn't solve the issue, then it's probably caused by the CPU driver. If that doesn't work, then it's probably the mass storage driver.
FYI: this is not related to the DriverPacks BASE but to one specific driver in the DriverPacks and therefore it must NOT be posted in the bugtracker, but in the forum!

This issue is closed now. Please post your test results in the forum.

Symantec Antivirus quarantines cmdow.exe
Hi, BTS!
Even after configuring Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition version 10.0.2.2000 to exclude cmdow.exe from detection and quarantine, it still quarantines the file and thus prevents slipstreaming the driverpacks.
I haven't tested other antivirus programs, such as Norton Antivirus, but I'm pretty sure they are likely to do the same. Symantec Antivirus calls cmdow.exe 'Hacktool.HideWindow', and although it may often be used by hackers, there are plenty of legitimate programs out there which use it to perform required functions, such as your driverpacks, nLite update packs, etc.

It's a false alarm, as explained on the forums.

cmdow.exe won't be used anymore in the next version though. So this annoying 'problem' will be solved anyway :) ;).

2006-05-30 10:09
The directory wherein DPs_BASE.exe resides doesn't matter. It can contain spaces. In fact, I've done all my testing with spaces both in the program's path and the destination path, so I'm confident that it's working.

The svcpack.inf in your RAR file is encoded in Unicode UTF-16. The conversion to ANSI should work fine. But to verify it, I've tried it myself. The results were good: the file was converted without a single problem. Are you very sure you didn't accidentally do something wrong with it yourself?

Split DPsFnshr.ini into per-DriverPack .ini files
This feature would be similar to 0000308, but then for the Finisher. When this change is implemented in both the Finisher and the DriverPacks, they all become version independant, thus you will be able to use DriverPack Sound A 7.12 with DriverPacks Finisher 7.04 for example.
Detailed documentation for this will be available in docs\DriverPack_reference_wnt5_x86-32.ini.

That doesn't matter. You can reuse every letter, as long as it isn't the one for the 'slipstream' or the 'exit' button. You can have an alt+p shortcut on EVERY page if you want to...

Spaces after "="-sign in winnt.sif
Hey Bashrat the following lines are created in winnt.sif after slipstreaming.

[Data]
    MsDosInitiated= No

[Unattended]
    OemPreinstall= Yes

Could u remove the spaces after the "="-sign. So that it would be like this:
    MsDosInitiated=No
    OemPreinstall=Yes

Solution : The DriverPacks Finisher freezes when it installs the Ati CCP
To solve this issue line 41 in the DPsFnshr_exec.au3 needs to be changed from this:

$cmd = run(@comSpec & " /c " & __replaceEnvVars($tmp[$k]), @systemDir, @SW_HIDE, $STDERR_CHILD + $STDOUT_CHILD)

To this:
$cmd = run(@comSpec & " /c " & __replaceEnvVars($tmp[$k]), @systemDir, $STDERR_CHILD + $STDOUT_CHILD)

Apparently the macro @SW_HIDE (hides the cmd.exe window) does not function properly in combination with the setup.exe from the Ati CCP.
I tried it, and it seems to work, i have not seen any cmd windows coming by so i wonder what use the presence of @SW_HIDE is in this line.

This should solve the issue reported here:

Slipstreaming changes windows istaller.
Slipstreaming the drives causes the text installer from booting to not run like normal. It will skip things such as the (F2) to run automated fix and the decision screens leading up to install such as run recovery console or install.

Instead after Slipstreaming the disc will load directly to the installation step choose partition, this is inconvenient if you have a MS original CD that you need to add drivers to to run the Recovery console.
Take a xp source, add at least the mass storage, slipstream, repackage the files to CD with the bootloader image and then test.
I will see if I can fix this on my own but I am not sure if this is done because its needed.
This is the HOST platform.

This is not a bug, it's a problem with the specific setup for deploying Windows that you're using. Ask in the "Installation Platforms" forum.

SB600 RAID detects HDs but wont boot Windows once installation complete
I bought a 'new' motherboard recently, its an Asus M2R32-MVP.

I tried to install Windows XP Pro using the latest driver pack (DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_7072.7z) it seem to be working just fine until the installation was complete and the system was booting for the first time got to the windows logo with the bar at the bottom and went back to the BIOS post screen.
Resolved by creating a driver disk with the drivers from http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/integratedip-xp.html [^] (v7.7)

OMG 60MB for RAID Utility's!!

Report in the forums, this is a driver issue, not a bug in the BASE.
