Summary0000379: Unusable Windows 2003 SP2 32-bit Enterprise Edition cd, due to erroneous slipstream of some KB update from Microsoft
DescriptionI have slipstreamed SP2 for Windows 2003 VLK on a cd, with nLite. Then, I proceeded to install all driver packs 7.04 or 7.04.01 all of them, onto the Windows 2003 SP2 folder. The problem is that the slipstreamer complained that some KB update from Microsoft is not included into installation folder, and then it attempted to install it. Slipstreaming reported no error, so I considered that slipstream was properly done.

It is indeed necessary to slipstream that update so that Windows 2003 SP1 cd properly works with Bashrat driver packs, but it is unneeded for Windows 2003 SP2. More than that, I could not install the Windows 2003 SP2 on my computer (processor Athlon XP 3200+, VIA KT600 motherboard Asus A7V600-X firmware 1.09, with 1 GB DDR/333 MHz, 1 Western Digital SATA-II JS1600 HDD working as SATA-I, 1 Maxtor 80 GB HDD IDE, 1 DVD+/-RW and 1 DVD-RAM, both IDE). That cd simply rebooted the computer when (or before) it tried to load command line versions of the drivers for SATA, SCSI and so on.
Additional InformationUBCD 4.1.1 fails to boot on my computer when SATA HDD is present *and* ATA boot ROM is enabled.

Drivers from VIA Hyperion 5.11A are problematic. VIA advises that after you install VIA Hyperion 5.11A, you should install VIA V-RAID driver 5.50B. That solves problems with V-RAID driver from 5.11A.

I checked the DVD if it is able to boot. It is indeed able to boot fine.

I could log onto my installation on a SATA disk with the recovery console. I performed chkdsk /p on all partitions. Besides some strange messages (namely that the NTFS partition was somehow gone from the drive, but only the first time I checked it, and that I should use /p even if I had already used /p), all went ok. Namely, after issuing chkdsk x: /p for each partition, all was ok, although I cannot be sure that it really checked those partitions, since it insisted that I should use /p switch if I want chkdsk to check those partitions, without noticing that I had already used /p in issuing the command.

So, I consider the problem solved in the last version of DriverPacks Base 7.04 (with all the latest drivers packs, namely either 7.04 or 7.04.1 versions).

I do (still) reccomend that drivers from VIA Hyperion 5.11A have to be overwritten by drivers from V-RAID 5.50b.

Report in the forums, this is a driver issue, not a bug in the BASE.
