Summary | 0000076: WindowsXP never logs in after first boot(stops at "playing logon sound") |
Description | Info : motherboard-Gigabyte GA-8I915ME, P4-3GHz, 512MB RAM, 160GB SATA HDD.
Step1: WinXP uA CD slipstreamed with SP2 and updates till June06, IE7Beta2 using nLite.(did not remove any drivers).
Step2: added winnt.sif file.
Step3: slipstream DPBase v6.06.1 and all dp except wlan(available as on 24-06-2006).
After logging into xp the first time after uA installation(ie before RunOnceEx.cmd is called and user profile is created), ie during the time,"playing logon sound"(i've applied a tweak which displays what windows is actually doing), it pops up a small, empty message box with no texts, and with a red-X symbol in the left and OK button in below center. i click ok and i get this message under the title 'User Environment'.
"Windows cannot create a temporary profile dir. This may be caused by insufficient security rights. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.
DETAIL: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."
i click ok and another msg popups under the same title.
"windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the default profile for the system.
DETAIL: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."
I click ok and then windows is logging out and logging in automatically and the same thing said above happens. this is continuing indefinitely.
I cannot enter windows forever.
Case 2: Tried installing the same cd on another computer.
Mercury 845GVM-AGP, P4 2.4GHz, 1GB RAM, 80GB UATA HDD.
In this computer, windows is logging in without problems but it creates another profile named user.systemname(ie Administrator.Wondercomp - WonderComp is my system name) and logs into this profile. But i dont want that new profile to be created.
I am using your driverpack for more than a year. Till May, everything was working fine.
I tried various ways in trial-N-error(like excluding june updates, excluding ie7, removing all other cosmetics(winntbbu.dll, syssetup.dll, msgina.dll, shell32.dll, explorer.exe etc) which were working well before... etc).
Spent past 1 week in full and 4-5 installations daily and few rw-cds.
Only as a last resort, i excluded driverpack and installed in both systems mentioned above. i had no problems in both the systems and no additional profile was created in the second system. Now i added everything except driverpack and found everything to be fine.
I still dont know whether it is the problem with integrating the driverpack.
if u have come across this situation, pl respond asap. thanks very much.

Steps To Reproduce | |
Additional Information | Options selected: dp method-2, GUIRunOnce, disable KtD, disable caching of driverpack, ATI catalyst-Requires dotnet FW-something like this-i dont know what it means by selecting either of this method for ATI catalyst.
In XP, first time i downloaded v6.06.1 and run, when i selected the windows distribution directory, suddenly dpBase crashed. i have to execute again and then it was working fine. this happened 3-4 times.
DPBase always crashed in windows2003SP1. so i have to use xp.

i have again tested today by installing the same distribution with driverpack and another without it. the installtion with driverpack gave the same problem mentioned above and the one without dp integration gave no problems at all. now i am going to integrate drivers one by one and test to know which driverpack gives problem. i already removed only sound and tested. the problem still persists. now im going to remove graphics and try. everytime im doing fresh slipstreaming. |
|
|
|
ok i found out the solution. if i integrate graphics A, i get these problems. so i excluded Graphics A and installed in two above mentioned computers and i am free of problems specified above.
i dont know whether the actual problem with Graphics-A, but after excluding it, i dont have any problem. there is some option in G-A, like ATI catalyst or something which i dont know, which gave two options. i tried both the options and installed to test. i get the same situation mentioned above. so i decided to exclude G-A. |

Please post your HWIDs! Check my sig on the forum, there's a link to a tool in it to find them. |

i cant find the link to the tool for HWID. can u pl provide me with the link? |
|

Please retry with a 'vanilla' disc: one that has NOT been modified. I doubt this problem is caused by the DriverPacks. |
|
|
|
ok. i would integrate only the driverpacks with fresh xpcd with sp2 and hf alone and test tommorrow. |

Integrated all dp including graphicsA,B,C and tested in intel desktop845gvsr mobo, surprisingly no problem arouse. |

OK, then this must be a driver bug. Not an issue in the DriverPacks BASE, therefore not a bug and thus it should not be marked as such in the bugtracker. Entry closed. |
